Due to popular demand, we have managed to secure the Award-winning musical comedy duo EastEnd Cabaret for the 8th DecemberThe EastEnd Cabaret Club, it also will feature a special guest line-up of new and established acts from East London and beyond.

The internationally-acclaimed double act (deviant diva Bernadette Byrne and half-moustachioed musician Victor Victoria) are one of London’s “top ten cabaret superstars” (Time Out). They have received various awards including the Adelaide Fringe’s “Best Cabaret” prize, and are soon to star in BBC3’s comedy variety show, “Live At The Electric”. Having performed their riotous and risqué shows around the world – and before embarking on a three month tour of Australia in January 2014 – the duo are bringing the cabaret chaos back to the East End of London, with a series of shows for their “neighbourhood” audience.

Having also been named one of the Hospital Club 100 (the prestigious list of the most influential and interesting people working in the UK creative industries), EastEnd Cabaret are known and recognised for their innovative approach to performance and interaction with the audience, both on and off the stage. This season of three nights will be a continuation of their ideas – experimenting with their own boundaries of cabaret, and showcasing new work from a hand-picked selection of artists, with a particular lean towards those who live and work locally.

The double act’s association with the East End extends far beyond it being their namesake. Bernadette Byrne and Victor Victoria were first brought to life at the infamous Stepney haunt The George Tavern. Rapidly storming to the forefront of the UK cabaret scene, their first full-length show made its debut at the Arcola Theatre, with the characters “living” inside a festival tent next to the theatre for two weeks. With recent successful seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe and Soho Theatre, the pair are looking forward to bringing their songs and stories home to the Hackney Downs Studios, as well as introducing performers and audiences that are new to the space.

The Russet is very much a hidden gem of Hackney, offering a locally-sourced menu, inspired by the changes of the season. For the Club nights, there will be specially-created cocktails available at the bar, along with their usual sustainably-sourced beverages.

A night at The EastEnd Cabaret Club will featuring an hour of acclaimed songs and stories from the titular duo, followed by a “lock-in” party with a revolving line-up of performances from the brightest and boldest stars of the cabaret and alternative comedy scene. With music from the swinging club band Minnie’s Henhouse, and a few other unexpected surprises up their sleeves, the EastEnd Cabaret Club will celebrate the strange, beautiful and wonderfully unpredictable scene that Bernadette and Victy call home.
